About
Adrian Hui is a 19-year old hominid and filmmaker. Currently based in New York, he was born and raised in Hong Kong and later moved to Toronto, Canada, where he discovered a newfound passion for people-watching and capturing the ways in which we treat one another on camera.
While primarily a writer/director, Adrian is passionate about all aspects of the craft and has also accumulated extensive experience as a producer, cinematographer, editor and colorist. He aspires to tell relatable and authentic stories that provoke thought and resonate contemporarily with his peers — when better to try and encapsulate the essence of coming-of-age, than when you're personally going through those very vicissitudes every day? Childhood feels like an eternity, and suddenly our personal responsibilities are all too real. Being part of a generation that often feels lost and fragmented despite the unceasing torrent of noise that surrounds us, he is a firm believer in the power of genuine human connection from soul to soul.
Adrian is currently a sophomore in the B.F.A. Film and Television program at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Besides his native English, he is a fluent speaker of Mandarin and Cantonese, and in his free time enjoys partaking in deeply existential conversations that go down rabbit holes.
